In May 2016, with the launch of Mary’s Organic Harvest, we became one of the first brands to sell certified organic fresh-cut fruits and vegetables. We know our customers are looking for items that are healthy and safe for their families. That’s why we want to do our part to assure them that the organic produce they buy from us is certified by the USDA. This means rigorous inspections start at the farm, continue through the production process, and end at your table.
The use of chemicals, such as pesticides, in agriculture are not only harmful to us but to every living thing we share this planet with. By supporting the farmers who don’t use these toxins, we are supporting the longevity of our planet.
Organic farmers work to promote healthy farmland by replenishing and maintaining soil fertility. They use methods such as crop rotation, planting cover crops to add nutrients, using beneficial insects to prey on pests and eliminate the need for pesticides, and utilizing composted material as fertilizer.
Small family farms who utilize organic farming practices are mainstays within the communities they live. By supporting these farmers, we are able to sustain their community involvement and economy.
Without the exposure to chemicals and pesticides, organic produce contains more nutrients, including vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants.
Genetically Engineered (GE) foods and Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO’s) are prohibited from organic food. This means you're getting a piece of fruit or vegetable that came straight from a farm, not designed in a lab.
Organic produce tends to have the best flavor as they are grown in nutrient rich soil and usually picked at the peak of ripening.
